Fall Bike to Work Day is Oct. 4.

Ecology Action and county cyclists are gearing up for fall Bike to Work Day with 15 public breakfast sites from Santa Cruz from Watsonville. Some sites offer basic bike maintenance, acupuncture and massages.

“It’s time to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and ride your bike to work or school,” Nick Mucha, Ecology Action program specialist, said in a press release. “Fall Bike to Work and School Day continues to provide a fun, safe and inviting event.”

Santa Cruz’s bi-annual Bike to Work festivities, which started in spring 1987, turned 24 years old this year. The fall incarnation is now in its 14th year.

Spring Bike to Work Week is celebrated in conjunction with a nationally recognized Bike to Work Month in May.

According to Ecology Action over 83,400 participants have bike commuted to school or work through this program to date.
