About Albert Lee

The fact that Eric Clapton dubbed Albert Lee as “the greatest guitar player in the world” comes as no surprise to those who are familiar with the guitar-slinger’s work. British-born Lee is most notable for his key-supporting role in the careers of American rock icons such as Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis and The Everly Brothers. Thanks to additional lengthy stints with Clapton and Emmylou Harris’s Hot Band, Lee explored his passion for country music, even garnering a solo hit with “Country Boy.” Originally starting his career on the piano while growing up in Blackheath, London, he picked up the guitar in his teens and begun perfecting the fluid bends and lightning-fast “chicken pickin’” runs and arpeggios that have become his signature. Having recently celebrated his 70th birthday with tribute concerts and a new album recorded live at The Iridium jazz club in Manhattan, Lee has a Grammy to his name and is a five-time consecutive winner of Guitar Player Magazine’s ‘Best Country Guitarist’ award. He is a master of the six-string domain.
