Andy Vargas + Souleros Live at the Catalyst

You’ve heard his masterful, soul-tinged voice for years as vocalist for the legendary rock band Santana. At age seven, Andy Vargas started performing with his father’s mariachi band “Mariachi California De Javier Vargas” in his home town of Watsonville, CA. Having his father as a role model and mentor he immediately transitioned into high gear prepping his voice for what would lead to a dynamic career. Fifteen-year-old Vargas was introduced to record producer’s Terry Melcher and Bruce Johnston who is a member of the renowned Beach Boys Band. Terry and Bruce soon presented the young vocalist with a management and production agreement. His dedication to his music career earned him a recording contract with RCA / BMG. Vargas’ perseverance paved the way for his future. In 1999 his then manager and music legend Lou Adler coordinated a life changing audition with legendary guitarist Carlos Santana.

Andy Vargas celebrates his 20th anniversary since joining his musical mentor on stage as lead vocalist for the band. Vargas has also performed and recorded alongside artists such as Patti Labelle, Enrique Iglesias, The Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Yanni, Maná, Juanes, Beto Cuevas & La Ley, La Mafia, and many more. But when not performing in packed arenas around the world with Santana, Vargas will fill the seats and souls of fans with his own performances showcasing his unique Latin funk rhythms with his group Souleros.

Souleros music is derived from R&B integrated with traditional Soul music or Spanish ballads also known as “Boleros.” Souleros is also a blend of rhythmic Latin funk with smooth R&B vocals delivered with heart and soul by his band members who are some of the most influential musicians in the world. Vargas and his co-producer Rodney Alejandro have mastered the art of fusing these genres of music together creating the sound of the “New Chicano Soul!” Souleros masterful performances, make the classic favorites, boleros and new rhythms unique, that you will want to hit the dance floor and groove.
