Shown in this exhibit are small works, what I call my Etudes: studies in light, shadow and form to improve my powers of observation—a way to teach myself to paint. Except for the nudes, which were based on life drawings I did originally in charcoal, these Etudes are representative of my search for the pictorial content of paintings yet to come. They are "close-ups" that I hope you will enjoy.
