9th Annual Black Mesa Benefit Event:
"Honoring Indigenous youth leadership in the struggle for cultural and ecological survival"

SPEAKERS:
* Indigenous Youth 4 Cultural Survival
A group of Diné and other young people visiting from Flagstaff, AZ that works to reconnect with ancestral lands and traditions. IY4CS inspires action on issues of Indigenous sovereignty and environmental justice—from Black Mesa to Standing Rock.

* Desirae Harp (Mishewal Wappo/ Diné)
Desirae, a talented singer, songwriter and educator from the Mishewal Wappo tribe of Napa & Sonoma County, will share songs and speak about organizing for Indigenous cultural survival in California.

* Raymond LeBeau (Illmawi Pit River)
Raymond is from the Pit River Nation in Northern CA and organizes with UCSC’s People of Color Sustainability Collective. He will speak about the struggle to protect Medicine Lake, a sacred site threatened by geothermal power plant development.

* Kanyon Sayers-Roods (Ohlone/ Chumash)
Hailing from Indian Canyon in the Gabilan Mountains, Kanyon will speak about her recent experiences at the Standing Rock prayer camps, and local struggles to protect Ohlone sacred places.

This is a benefit for Diné families of Black Mesa, AZ who are in their 4th decade of resisting coal strip mining and forced relocation from their ancestral homelands. Supply and tool donations for the Fall Caravan of Support may be brought to this event.
