About Climate Change Theater Action

It has begun. The devastating effects of Climate Change are upon us. Yet, the current administration withdraws from the Paris Climate Accord, pushes coal, rescinds the Clean Power Plan, and eviscerates the EPA. Want to be inspired to act while having some fun? On November 8, 2017, one night only, at 7:00 pm, there will be a FREE performance at Louden Nelson Community Center, 301 Center Street, Santa Cruz, as the Santa Cruz entry in an international Climate Change Theater Action. That action includes over 100 productions in at least 29 countries and over 30 states. The Santa Cruz production includes short plays, live music, film, speakers, and even stand-up comedy. Doors open at 6:30 – first come, first seated until the house is full.

The production is organized by Peter Gelblum and is sponsored by Mountain Community Theater. The international effort is a collaboration between the Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts, NoPassport Theatre Alliance, The Arctic Cycle, Theatre Without Borders, and York University.

The performers include many notable Santa Cruzans, all of whom are donating their time and talent to this important event – Robin Aronson, Sarah Albertson, Sean Becker, Hannah Eckstein, Wendy Edmonds, Erik Gandolfi, Drea Kato, David Leach, Malia Machado, Sarah Marsh, Chris Rich, Richard Stockton, Rita Wadsworth, and Barry Williams.

The actors will be performing short plays written for the international event by playwrights around the world, all of whom also donated their efforts.

Information will be available about what YOU can do to help this immensely critical issue.
