About Community Listening Session

Harm Reduction Coalition invites you to a listening session to share your experience, priorities, and opportunities for collaboration to address issues related to drug use; including but not limited to overdose, viral hepatitis, and HIV/AIDS, in Santa Cruz County. A listening session is an opportunity for all of us to learn about local priorities, needs, and the supports and barriers to local harm reduction work. We invite individuals, providers, and other organizations that have a current or prospective impact on local harm reduction services. Our past listening sessions have included syringe exchange program providers and participants receiving services, social service providers (housing, benefits, primary care), drug treatment providers, researchers, local/county/state health department officials, policy makers and elected officials. Harm Reduction Coalition is a national organization with many local chapters. We offer training, technical assistance, and capacity building to promote compassionate, evidence-based policies and services for people who use drugs and their communities. Between the increasing rates of opioid overdose, hepatitis C, and homelessness, we're interested in learning about what Santa Cruz County has done, is doing, and wants to do to promote health and wellness among people who use drugs -- and how Harm Reduction Coalition can play a supporting role.
