About Formanism: Bruce Forman Trio

Celebrating new CD: The Book of Forman

With a jam-packed touring schedule, seventeen albums as a bandleader, countless sidemen recording dates, soundtrack work on three Clint Eastwood films and an impressive 20-plus appearances at the Monterey Jazz Festival, guitarist Bruce Forman is an indispensable part of the Central Coast’s music theme. With be-bop chops and drawing inspiration from genres as far ranging as western swing (his band Cow Bop was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in 2014), Forman brings influences from a wide range of Americana musical approaches. With his career having roots in Texas, New York and the Bay Area, regional inflections informed by his time on the road seeps through in his melodies and harmonies. Also a distinguished educator, Forman’s JazzMasters Workshop has provided over 2,500 free lessons for young music students. The title of his new album, The Book of Forman, reflects his upbeat and lighthearted approach to music and arranging, so get ready to enjoy a swinging evening with Formanism: the Bruce Forman Trio, featuring Alex Frank on bass and Marvin “Smitty: Smith on drums.
