Explore how we make music– whether it’s with a guitar, hands, or bodies.

Learn about the journey of music making from the wood used to build the guitar to the lyrics of your favorite song through participatory activities and performances with the Santa Cruz County Art of Guitar Exhibit and Festival.

Enjoy free musical performances in Abbott Square from 6 – 9pm by William Coulter – Santa Cruz Guitar Company Guitars, Kenny Hill – Hill Guitar Company, Bill Walker – Scott Walker Guitars, and Sequoia Kimmel.

Step into the museum for live lutherie demonstrations by Hill Guitar Company- Kenny Hill and sons from Hill Guitar company who will set up shop and show the making of fine classical guitars. See one of a kind art pieces inspired by the Luthiers of Santa Cruz. Join Addam Stark for an “Art of Guitar Finishing” activity where you can stain guitar shaped wood pendants. Contribute to a sculpture piece made up of a collection of guitar pieces to celebrate the luthiers, headed by Roberta Ryan.
