About Gerald Clayton Trio

With four Grammy nominations already to his name, pianist Gerald Clayton is poised for continued renown and acclaim. A graduate of University of Southern California, where he studied with Billy Childs, he also studied under the tutelage of NEA Jazz Master Kenny Barron. Solidifying the pianist’s run of legendary apprenticeships is Clayton’s father, bassist John Clayton. Central Coast jazz fans may know Gerald Clayton as the Musical Director for the latest Monterey Jazz Festival On Tour ensemble, as he is an expert and intuitive collaborator. His forthcoming album, Tributary Trails, is a work that interconnects personal, experiential and intangible streams into one flowing musical narrative. Aided by the talents of Joe Sanders on bass and Justin Brown on drums, Clayton aptly displays his skills as a composer and arranger of peerless musicality and depth.
