Lloyd Kahn, Small Homes: The Right Size

About Lloyd Kahn, Small Homes: The Right Size

Bookshop Santa Cruz welcomes green architecture and tiny homes expert Lloyd Kahn (Shelter, Tiny Homes) back to Bookshop for a presentation of Small Homes: The Right Size, his first building book in three years. This event is cosponsored by Ecology Action.

Whereas the typical American home is now 2,500 square feet, and the typical "tiny home” is 200-300 square feet, the homes in this book are in the 400-1,200 square foot range. Compared to the average American home, small homes are less expensive, use fewer resources, are more efficient to heat and cool, and are cheaper to maintain and repair. The houses in Small Homes vary from unique and artistic to simple and low-cost. Some are plain, ordinary buildings that provide owners shelter at a reasonable cost — and some are inspiring examples of design, carpentry, craftsmanship, imagination, creativity, and homemaking.

Don't miss this slideshow presentation and book signing with the always-engaging Lloyd Kahn!
