About Magic Carpet: World Dance and Rhythms!

On Saturday, November 3rd at 11AM, Tandy Beal and Company presents the second concert in the ArtSmart Family First Saturday Concert Series, Magic Carpet: World Dance and Rhythms! You don’t need a passport for this Magic Carpet tour around the world! Experience a dazzling variety of world dance and music in downtown Santa Cruz! Children, parents, siblings, and grandparents can experience the beauty of our world through traditional dances and music, gaining a larger sense of the world around us and a greater appreciation for our various heritages.

On this year’s Magic Carpet ride, children and adults can enjoy colorful art and stunning footwork from Mexican folklorico with Corazon En Flor, John and Nancy Lingemann’s intricate footwork in Argentinian Tango, and the ancient drumming practice of Japanese Taiko, performed by Watsonville Taiko. The audience will be invited to witness some of Polynesia’s sacred and festive dances, danced by Te Hau Nui. The audience will see the irrepressible energy and poise from Mohamed Bangoura, performing Congolese dance and, in Shakti Bhakti, the grace and strength of Odissi dance from India!
