Mighty Mike Schermer - CD Release Party

Mighty Mike Schermer honed his guitar skills in Bay Area clubs for two decades – usually playing with the blues-drenched Soul Drivers – before moving to Austin in 2009. Schermer has worked as a sideman for Marcia Ball, Elvin Bishop, Angela Strehli, Bonnie Raitt, Charlie Musselwhite, and many other top blues artists, while simultaneously developing his talents as a vocalist, songwriter, and bandleader. Inspired by blues giant Albert Collins, “The Master of the Telecaster,” Schermer’s fretboard stylings are deeply immersed in the electrified blues guitar tradition of T-Bone Walker, Jimmy Rogers, and B.B. King. From those legends Schermer learned that one well-placed note carried more meaning and emotion than a lot of frenetic, flashy virtuosity. It’s a lesson he follows today. Schermer’s new album is entitled Blues In Good Hands.
