About MLK Day of Service

Did you resolve to get more involved in your community in 2015? Kick off the New Year by participating in a National Day of Service on Martin Luther King Day. Millions of Americans will honor the legacy of Dr. King on Monday Jan. 19. Join the Volunteer Center, the city of Santa Cruz and fellow nonprofits as we engage in compassionate projects throughout Santa Cruz County. Help maintain a local garden, jump on a restoration project, make a struggling community member's day brighter, or help revitalize community spaces.

Additionally, community members are invited to take part in the MLK Day Share the Warmth Drive. Donate new and gently used coats, scarves, blankets and new toiletries at participating locations throughout Santa Cruz County between now and Jan. 17. Items will be collected and sorted on Martin Luther King Day.
