Monterey Jazz Festival On Tour is a virtual Who’s Who list of today’s top jazz artists. The lineup consists of an all-star group featuring Raul Midón on guitar and vocals; Ravi Coltrane on tenor and soprano saxophones; Nicholas Payton on trumpet; musical director Gerald Clayton on piano; Joe Sanders on bass; and Gregory Hutchinson on drums. Organized in celebration of the Monterey Jazz Festival’s 59th anniversary, MJF On Tour extends the Festival’s tradition of putting together jazz artists from diverse styles. Musical director Clayton provides the framework on which these individual talents can forge together an ensemble of mutual creativity. It’s a challenge that brings out the best in these top performers and the audiences love it.
