The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk’s FREE Friday Night Bands on the Beach concert series features top 40 bands from the '70s, '80s, and '90s with FREE shows at 6:30pm and 8:30pm on the Boardwalk’s beach bandstand.

Formed in Cupertino in 1965, the group has toured with surf music icons Jan and Dean and the Beach Boys, and served as the "celebrity house band" at Disneyland for an unprecedented 15 years, 1975-1990. Papa's 1975 Top 40 hit "Be True To Your School" reached No. 1 in California. Their groundbreaking CD "California Project" (1985) exploded onto the Billboard Hot 100 Chart at No. 17 and earned the band their second Gold Record and a Grammy Nomination.

Today, Papa Doo Run Run still averages about 100 dates a year, worldwide. Their act encompasses all the great Classic Rock hits of the '60s and '70s, with a special emphasis on their award winning re-creation of Beach Boys' hits. Their best-kept secret...
