About Ronnie Foster Trio

Hammond B-3 organist Ronnie Foster bridged the gap between '60s soul jazz and the '70s fusion movement. His singular sound on the B-3 set him apart from fellow keyboardists of the era and signaled the rise of a new generation on the instrument. Foster continued to be a presence through the '70s as a sideman for Grant Green, George Benson, Stanley Clarke, and many other well-known jazz musicians. In the '80s and '90s, he gravitated towards producing and played a key role in recording several popular jazz and pop artists of the time for Stanley Turrentine, Grover Washington, Jr., Harvey Mason, and David Sanborn. Often sampled by hip-hop artists, Foster's early Blue Note albums still exert an influence on contemporary music makers.
