The Dobson last name is a familiar one on the Kuumbwa stage. Growing up with his musician family, Smith Dobson has spent the past fifteen years involved in a myriad of different musical projects. Now a stalwart of the Bay Area jazz scene, Dobson has been focusing on his own modern jazz and the release of his latest album, Soul of Wood. His current quartet features clarinetist Ben Goldberg, pianist Keith Sanders, bassist John Wiitala and drummer Hamir Atwal. Look forward to original compositions and inspiration from Lester Young, Stan Getz, and Wayne Marsh.
