Thana Alexa

Thana Alexa's engaging vocal style has been serenading audiences on recordings and tours with drummer/composer Antonio Sanchez's Migration ensemble since 2013. Now touring in support of her own debut recording, Ode to Heroes, Thana has enlisted the collective talents of former Santa Cruz resident and KJ Honor Band alumni saxophonist Ben Flocks, pianist Eden Ladin, bassist Noam Wiesenberg, and drummer Peter Kronreif. Ode to Heroes features the award-winning singer's original compositions as well as familiar works by her musical heroes: Wayne Shorter's Footprints, Paul Desmond and Dave Brubeck's Take Five and Charles Mingus' Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. A future star in the making, Alexa's composition Siena was nominated for a PORIN award, her native country Croatia's equivalent of a Grammy.
