About The Water Remembers Us: the story of the Winnemem Wintu, the salmon, & how the water connects us

In ongoing efforts to bring back the native salmon to their rivers, the Winnemem WIntu people will be conducting a prayer run (Run4Salmon) from the Bay Area to Mt. Shasta this Fall. Their incredible story of remembrance and reconnection with the salmon has been an immense source of inspiration affecting and bringing together many communities worldwide.

We are honored to host this benefit showcasing this story and weaving it into our own here in Santa Cruz. You are invited to participate in an evening that will include: interactive activities, crafts, storytelling, wild food snacks, a short film, and closing with a community water ceremony.

Our guest, Caleen Sisk, Chief and Spiritual Leader of the Winnemem Wintu people will come to share about the upcoming run and other issues pertaining to water issues in California and beyond. We will have opportunities to connect with one another and participate in the co-creation of our shared story as reflected in the water.
