About Transforming Together

Join the City of Santa Cruz Commission for the Prevention of Violence Against Women (CPVAW) and the local Santa Cruz community for one-day "awareness and prevention" conference.

The theme is "Transforming Together: A community working to shift gender stereotypes, end rape culture and deconstruct the patriarchy.”

Our keynote speakers include Judy Y. Chu, Ed.D., Affiliated Faculty in Human Biology at Stanford University and Author of When Boys Become Boys and Yesenia Gorbea, MSW, Senior Program Specialist, Public Education Campaigns and Programs, Futures Without Violence and Coaching Boys Into Men (CBIM) and Kelsey Hoie Ferrell, the Director of the Campus Advocacy, Resources & Education office at UCSC.

There will be breakout sessions throughout the day giving our community a wide array of tools to use in their day-to-day lives that will help shift current cultural norms surrounding gender, sexual and domestic violence.
