About Yoga for Curvy Girls

Yoga is an ancient practice that focuses on the union of mind, body, and breath in order to find peace within ourselves. And let's face it, yoga makes us feel GREAT in our bodies! In this special yoga workshop, we will explore the classic yoga poses and how to access them in all body shapes and sizes - with specific emphasis on poses for plus-sized women. Yoga is not a one size fits all approach as it is designed to be a personal practice that can be modified to address the needs of each individual student. In this workshop open to both seasoned yogis and beginners, students will learn how to make ever pose fit their body and challenge their mind.

Join us to explore a deeper side of yourself as we learn to feel strong and sexy in our bodies! Curvy-female-identified people only, please.

Please come in comfortable clothing that you can move in, as well as a mat if you have one handy.

Instructor: Ashlea Hartz, with assistance from Amy Baldwin

About Ashlea: I began my yoga practice at the age of 17 when first introduced to the sun salutation by my soccer coach in Indiana where I grew up. Years later I took my first official class at the college rec center and started to fall in love with the new movement of the body. After moving to New York City in 2003, I became a regular yoga student practicing with amazing teachers from Jivamukti NYC, OM Yoga and Jaya Yoga before finding my home at Yogamaya in 2010. I began a new journey in 2012 when I became certified as a Vinyasa Yoga teacher, and the following year moved to Santa Cruz to pursue a career in Holistic Nutrition. Now spending my time teaching yoga and healing people with the power of healthy food is my passion in life. I am very grateful to every teacher I have crossed paths with on and off the mat who have inspired me to follow the light within.
