First Friday at the Museum

About First Friday at the Museum

Join the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History for another free evening of drinks, refreshments and local nature photography! During our Summer Art Series, we feature works from local artists who find inspiration in the natural world. Stop by for First Fridays through August, 5-7 p.m., to enjoy free admission, meet the artists and unwind in the Museum beside beautiful Seabright State Beach.

In August we showcase Thomas Fallon Mackey, whose work is inspired by the dried mud of Death Valley, high on canyon walls or having flowed in the wash. Some works merge watery and dry surfaces, representing natural events occurring at different times, simultaneously. Half the exhibit is photography, half works on canvas incorporating mud. Threads of surfaces and natural processes run through Mackey’s work, found here: www.tfmackey.com. Enjoy live music by Watsonville band Wild & Blue.
