About Naturalist Night: Replacing Your Lawn on a Budget

Want to replace your lawn with a native plant garden? Curious about the City’s lawn replacement rebate program? Then our upcoming Naturalist Night speakers have something to share with you!

Join us on Thursday, October 18, for this month’s Naturalist Night lecture: Replacing Your Lawn on a Budget. Master Gardeners Karen Cozza and Julia Davenport will join Toby Goddard and Neal Christen of the City’s Water Department, as well as Bill Henry, Director of Groundswell Coastal Ecology, to answer all questions on replacing your lawn with a native plant garden, navigating the City’s lawn replacement rebate program and more.

About the Speakers:
Bill Henry, Director of Groundswell Coastal Ecology will share his experiences restoring and replacing the Museum’s front lawn with a Coastal Prairie.

Toby Goddard and Neal Christen work for the City of Santa Cruz’s water conservation department and will share information and answer questions about the City’s lawn replacement rebate program.

Master Gardeners Karen Cozza and Julia Davenport will get participants started on the right foot with recommendations for plant selection and design, with an emphasis on planting CA native plants for habitat services and low water usage.
