About Teen Backpacking Trip: Kaiser Wilderness and Mono Hot Springs

This trip for teens will include backpacking, swimming, day hikes, soaking in the hot springs, and other activities. It is open to any teens who are ambulatory and interested in a backpacking trip of medium length (about seven miles one way).

Itinerary:
8/4: Leave Santa Cruz for Kaiser Wilderness. Camp at Sample Meadow. (Arrangements can be made to accommodate participants from other areas.)

8/5: Hike from Sample Meadow trailhead to Upper Twin Lake for lunch and swim. Hike to George Lake and set up camp.

8/6: Camp at George Lake.

8/7: Drive to Mono Hot Springs for soak in springs and swimming in the river. Camp at nearby Mono Creek Campgrounds.

8/8: Final soak at Mono Hot Springs. Depart for Santa Cruz.

Fees:
$130 if paid by May 15
$145 after May 15
Partial scholarships available. Please message Beth Love if you want to apply for a scholarship.
Fees include transportation, technical support, some equipment, and four delicious organic dinners.

Registration closes July 4.

Leadership:
The leadership team for this trip is composed of teens and adults. Trip leaders have a combined total of many decades of wilderness experience and many years experience with young people in the wilderness. The current leaders are Mataya Bryson-O'Connor, Evan Hill, Beth Love, Golden Love, and Vanessa Wilson. Additional adult leaders will be recruited if necessary to maintain an appropriate adult/teen ratio.
